The Dog Rescue Shelter in Mladenovac, Serbia received a call about a female dog and two puppies that had been abandoned outside and had been lying there on the side of the road for several days.
The good Samaritans tried to give them food, but the mother dog was very protective of her puppies and wouldn’t let them near them.
When rescuers arrived, she was hiding in the grass next to the road with her cubs, trying to protect them while she waited for her owners to come back for her. But unfortunately they never came again.
Fortunately, she knew the rescuers were there to help her, and she remained friendly and willing to eat whatever food they offered her.
After loading the mother puppy and her two cubs into the car, they returned to search the grass one last time to make sure no other cubs were left behind.
To their great surprise, they found another one in the grass a few meters from where the mother was. The puppies were only a few days old and hadn’t even opened their eyes yet.
The mother, now named Moli, was such a good mother to her cubs. She is relieved and thankful to finally be in good hands and have a warm bed to sleep in and not stranded outside on the side of the road. The shelter will take great care of the little family until they are ready to be put up for adoption.
