Thanks to their large, expressive eyes and distinctive bat-shaped ears, French Bulldogs are renowned for their cuteness. Mochi, a five-month-old French Bulldog from San Diego, California, is undoubtedly one of the most adorable examples of her breed. According to her owner, Rylee Boland, Mochi is a fun-loving and affectionate pup who has already amassed over 8,000 followers on Instagram in just one month.
Browsing through Mochi’s feed, it’s easy to see why – the little dog is constantly charming, particularly when snuggled up to Boland. As a curious and playful puppy, Mochi loves to explore her surroundings, as demonstrated one day when she encountered a Monarch butterfly in the backyard.
“She was so sweet and did not want to hurt it,” the owner Rylee Boland told The Dodo. “She is very well-behaved and has the kindest of hearts.”
Surprisingly, Mochi didn’t chase the butterfly away as Boland had expected, but instead sat still and watched it with interest for 15 minutes.
Boland was touched by her pet’s empathy and kindness, noting that Mochi seemed to understand how delicate the butterfly was. The butterfly even perched briefly on Mochi’s paw before flying away.
Thanks to Mochi’s calm demeanor, Boland was able to capture the sweet moment on camera and share it with the world on Instagram. It’s yet another example of the intelligence and intuition that French Bulldogs are known for, and a testament to Mochi’s gentle nature.
“Both the butterfly and Mochi were so calm I was able to snap a bunch of pictures,” the owner said. “It was an amazing experience.”
