As he grew older, he developed a large tumor that would eventually cause his death. Kongji has lived a full life in “dog years” terms, but something is still wrong. She is not in physical pain, but emotionally she shuts down. Something changed in her eyes. It looks like it’s far away.
When her caretaker calls her name, she purposely turns her back. She would rather be left alone. She won’t eat without a fight either.
Then it dawns on her human. Kongji knows he is dying and longs for something before that day comes.
Her owner adopted her four years ago. He was already around nine years old. She was found wandering the streets, so authorities brought her to an animal shelter. Kongji was clean and in a good shape. Shelter volunteers have tried to find its original owner without success. So she was adopted to a new home.
Does Kongji yearn to see his original owner before he dies? Is this her final wish? Her owner thinks so.
Kongji’s owner goes to the neighborhood where she was found four years earlier. She asks around and shows the locals Kongji’s picture. Everyone wants to help, but it’s been a long time! Kongji is placed on the street where she was found. Will she recognize it? Will she know the way to her old home?
Something seems capture Kongji’s attention. She starts to walk but falls due to being too weak. Then Kongji’s new owner puts up signs around the neighborhood asking if anyone recognizes her. But she has to return home because Kongji spends up to 12 hours a day in a special oxygen tank to help her breathe. She is such a little fighter!
As of now, Kongji’s owner is still searching to find its original owner. She spends every day making phone calls and a few days a week walking back to the neighborhood. She won’t give up until Kongji gets her last wish. She asks that we help by sharing this story!
