This homeless German shepherd “cries like a human” whenever someone gets too close to her

Memories of abuse can mentally scar a dog and change its perspective on humans forever. The dog in this story is a homeless German Shepherd named Rain who was found hiding under a van for several days. Rain was clinging to the wall behind the vehicle in fear and shaking uncontrollably whenever anyone approached her.

Neighbors alerted the animal protection group “Hope For Paws” about Rain’s behavior. Soon, a couple of rescuers arrived on the scene to help Rain. Rescuer Loreta was the first to reach out to Rain with a cheeseburger. But Rain completely refused the savior with her terrified body language and heartbreaking cries.

The rescue team was shocked to hear Rain’s distressing “human-like” cries as he struggled to free her. It was hard to imagine what kind of abuse she had suffered that caused her to vocalize her pure fear in such an intense way. She was scared and expressed it in a way the rescuers had never heard before in their lives.

Rain hid under the vehicle and prayed for rescuers to leave. She then slipped into a nasty gap to put more distance between herself and the rescuers. However, the rescue team sealed off the perimeter with a net while Loreta retrieved Rain with a gentle noose.

Even after the rescue, Rain’s strange human-like cries and expressions of heartache just didn’t stop. With great effort, the rescuers secured her in a crate and rushed her to a hospital for a health check. Fortunately, Rain gradually sensed the good intentions of his rescuers and calmed down considerably during bath time!

Rain’s mental healing after being rescued was incredible! She became so loving and cuddly in her foster home that she found a forever family within 2 weeks of her rescue. Now she’s called “Sassy Pants Dunbar” – an epic name that matches her goofball personality. She spends her days with her puppy brother and demands endless belly rubs from her loving humans! She has completely changed since she was rescued and we are so happy for her!
